Then, now and until

"I have glorified thee on earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do."  John 17:4  Authorized King James Version [AKJV].

"When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said,  It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.  John 19:30 [AKJV].

Note: all passages reference are from the Authorized King James Version

In John 17:4 it is written that "I have finished the work" but the crucifixion wasn't completed until John 19:30.  To me, God, the Lord Jesus Christ shows His omniscience.  He, Jesus being the incarnation of the only true God knows the future from the past as He lives in our now.  All I have is the memory of the past, the trials of the present, and the hope of the future.  So then, when I read passages as Ephesians 1:3 although I'm in the present, after believing the gospel 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, God now sees me in my future, in Him.  "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" Hebrews 11:1.  God is as I was in my past, God is as I am now,  God is as I will be in my future, in Him.  That understanding I believe can also be seen in Exodus 3:14 and again in John 8:58.

So in the now I do with conviction say as Paul did; "For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." 2 Timothy 1:12b.

The gospel that is for this dispensation of the grace of God is "Moreover brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  By which also ye are saved, unless ye have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scripture."  1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

Rightly divided or handling ???

2 Timothy 2:14-16     Authorized (King James) Version:   “ Of these things put  them  in remembrance, charging  them  before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit,  but  to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane  and  vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” There is in the military a directive that when one receives conflicting orders one will follow the last order given.   Really that makes a lot of sense to one who has sense, but therein lies the rub. Background:   the phrase above in verse “15” reads “rightly dividing the word of truth”.   Modern versions will read “rightly handling” instead of “dividing”.   Those two words have different meanings as seen in Hebrews 4:12 “even to dividing asunder”.   If a person d...

God's good pleasure in you

Philippians 2:13 (KJV)   “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of  his  good pleasure.” It is our responsibility to allow God to be God in our lives; we needn’t worry of our situations, we need to learn:   “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”   2 Timothy 1:12.   What things do we suffer?   Does it matter, really in the light of eternity what is our present suffering, large or small:   “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time  are  not worthy  to be compared  with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”   Romans 8:18.   Do we not have a promise from God concerning trails:   “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God  is  faithful, w...

Paul's salvation, How?

Acts 4:12 (KJV):   “ Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Continued in attachments; also at whatsaiththescruiptures.blogspot.com Was Saul (later Paul; Acts 13:9) saved as a Israelite when under the law as given by Moses?   “Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:    circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel,  of  the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;    concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.    But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.”   Philippians 3:4-7.   Saul in the flesh was at the apex of the Jewish religion, but when on the road to Damascus he confessed by asking “Who art thou, L...
