Not knowing isn't an excuse

1 Corinthians 14:38 [Authorized King James Version]:  But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.”

To me, this is saying that I have God’s Word and by having it I have the ability to remove ignorance.  “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2.  I am to renew my mind {from worldly to spiritually].

How is this done? By believing God’s Word and applying what is read to the aspects of one's life in all situations.  In applying that one is to “Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:14-15.

How do I know that God’s Word is effective? We are instructed, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17.

So what is faith then?  “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”  Hebrews 11:1.

How do I know that I have the right Bible translation?  “Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;”  Colossians 1:25.  That word fulfill is from the Greek “complete”  Check Strong’s Concordance for the word fulfil #4137 (IV) (B):  “Of a business or work, accomplish, complete.

Note:  A King James Bible and a good concordance will enhance one’s Bible study but if only in Christ [1 Corinthians 2:14]. So how does one come into Christ?  Believe the gospel given by Paul to us-ward, which is:  “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;  and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”  1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

God's good pleasure in you

Philippians 2:13 (KJV)   “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of  his  good pleasure.” It is our responsibility to allow God to be God in our lives; we needn’t worry of our situations, we need to learn:   “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”   2 Timothy 1:12.   What things do we suffer?   Does it matter, really in the light of eternity what is our present suffering, large or small:   “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time  are  not worthy  to be compared  with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”   Romans 8:18.   Do we not have a promise from God concerning trails:   “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God  is  faithful, w...

Rightly divided or handling ???

2 Timothy 2:14-16     Authorized (King James) Version:   “ Of these things put  them  in remembrance, charging  them  before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit,  but  to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane  and  vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” There is in the military a directive that when one receives conflicting orders one will follow the last order given.   Really that makes a lot of sense to one who has sense, but therein lies the rub. Background:   the phrase above in verse “15” reads “rightly dividing the word of truth”.   Modern versions will read “rightly handling” instead of “dividing”.   Those two words have different meanings as seen in Hebrews 4:12 “even to dividing asunder”.   If a person d...

Paul's salvation, How?

Acts 4:12 (KJV):   “ Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Continued in attachments; also at whatsaiththescruiptures.blogspot.com Was Saul (later Paul; Acts 13:9) saved as a Israelite when under the law as given by Moses?   “Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:    circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel,  of  the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;    concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.    But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.”   Philippians 3:4-7.   Saul in the flesh was at the apex of the Jewish religion, but when on the road to Damascus he confessed by asking “Who art thou, L...
