God's image . . . . . . really? how so?

Genesis 1:27 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
                                             BUT THEN!
Genesis 5:1-3 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
“This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;  male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.  And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:”
There are a lot of “if’s” and “could of’s and shouldn’t haves” that are not written.  There may very well be items of interest not written but what we do have is what God has purposed for us and to believe.  So what does scripture say?

“God created” He did not speak but  “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7.  When created man, Adam was formed by God and given life, His life, God’s very own life.  Adam was created sinless but sin entered through Adam by “unbelief”.
Note: “unbelief” is written only 16x’s in scripture and only in the New Testament.  Matthew 13:58, 17:20; Mark 6:6, 9:24, 16:14; Romans 3:3, 4:20, 11:20, 11:23, 11:30, 11:32; 1 Timothy 1:13; Hebrews 3:12, 3:19, 4:6 and 4:11.  But “unbelief” was left out, example see  Numbers 13 and supported in Hebrews 3.
“And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:” Genesis 5:3.  Adam began a son.  Look at this carefully,  God told Adam Genesis 1:28 to “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:”  We know Adam had two sons Genesis 4:1-4; Cain slays Able Genesis 4:8.  Then Seth was born in Genesis 5.  What is interesting to me is that Adam went one hundred thirty years before Seth.  The time before Cain, or the time between Cain and Able aren’t given.  Here we see we must take by faith what God has given us in His Word.  We are not to add to or remove, we have a hard enough time with just what is given.  I don’t have to understand it, I don’t have to comprehend what is written but God expects me to believe Him.
God has given us believers consolation in what we read.  He has told us by Paul to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15.  But to study what?  the division of dispensations in His Word i.e. 1Corinthians 9:17; Ephesians 1:10, 3:2 and Colossians 1:25.
Why no mention of dispensation in the old testament?  Why the word dispensation only used by Paul?  I recommend a word study of dispensation be done on these four times used in scripture to find the meaning and apply it as God has intended for us in this time.  Don’t believe what you have been told but “What Saith the Scripture” to you.

Rightly divided or handling ???

2 Timothy 2:14-16     Authorized (King James) Version:   “ Of these things put  them  in remembrance, charging  them  before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit,  but  to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane  and  vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” There is in the military a directive that when one receives conflicting orders one will follow the last order given.   Really that makes a lot of sense to one who has sense, but therein lies the rub. Background:   the phrase above in verse “15” reads “rightly dividing the word of truth”.   Modern versions will read “rightly handling” instead of “dividing”.   Those two words have different meanings as seen in Hebrews 4:12 “even to dividing asunder”.   If a person d...

God's good pleasure in you

Philippians 2:13 (KJV)   “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of  his  good pleasure.” It is our responsibility to allow God to be God in our lives; we needn’t worry of our situations, we need to learn:   “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”   2 Timothy 1:12.   What things do we suffer?   Does it matter, really in the light of eternity what is our present suffering, large or small:   “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time  are  not worthy  to be compared  with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”   Romans 8:18.   Do we not have a promise from God concerning trails:   “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God  is  faithful, w...

Whose faithful?

"God is faithful,"  1 Cor 1:9;  "But the Lord is faithful,"  2 Thess 3:3;  " I'm sure not but He is.  When I fail He doesn't, He is faithful.  When I'm distraught, being weak in faith, He is faithful.  I will, can, must depend upon Him in all that I do; Looking for that blessed hope, the soon appearing of my great God and Savior, the LORD Jesus Christ.  He is my life, for I was crucified with Christ and risen, I no longer live now, but the life I now have is by His faithfulness to me that I have my being.  He is faithful to Himself, He can't deny Himself.  He is faithful to His Word that He cannot be separated from. I'm not in Him by anything I could have done, its all His work, it's all about Him and none of me; it came as a gift, a free gift.  I can't take pride in anything,  but to glory in Him.  For all things were made by Him and for Him, in Him all things are. It's impossible for Him to lie, in Him is no dark...
