Why the Blood?

Leviticus 17:11 [AKJV]:  "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."

Hebrews 9:22 [AKJV]:  "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."

In Leviticus we see where life is at, "the life of the flesh is in the blood".  It had to be man's bloodshed to re-institute life into man.  "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:" 1 Peter 1:18-19.  Again in Hebrews it is also written:  "But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:  how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" Hebrews 9:11-14.  "For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins."  Finally then in regard to blood and sin we read:  "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."  Hebrews 9:22.

To explain these verses in the scheme of the whole, God demands payment for sin.  His payment for sin then is in like manner i.e.  eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.  You can investigate this in Exodus 21:24, Leviticus 24:20, Deuteronomy 19:21 and Matthew 5:38.  God required equal payment for trespass, one for one.  But man being in Adam had no such payment within himself.  Man needed a redeemer to make things right with God, but there was none.  So God became man;  "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."  Isaiah 7:17. Again Matthew prophesies "Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." Matthew 1:23.  Jesus Christ's birth as seen in Matthew 1"18-25.  Medically speaking then this is why the suspected father's blood is examined to verify parenthood of said child.  The blood that courses through the fetus's body while in the womb is that of the father's and not the mother's.

Sidebar:  "Your lamb shall be without blemish."  Exodus 12:5.  "But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"  1 Peter 1:19.  Then Christ, God's Son is given as the redeemer for man's sin.  "Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."  Acts 4:10-12.  A long time ago song was written which was titled "Nothing but the blood".

"For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones."  Ephesians 5:30.  Christ's resurrected body was void of blood.  His bloodshed, sin destroyed (in Him, Ephesians 1:7 and Colossians 1:17) the need for blood to be is passed.  There is no other blood that could remove sin and now that there isn't, it to is passed.  One must understand that we must study, rightly dividing, what God has given us in His Word.  Sin from God's perspective is gone when it is believed that He died, shed His blood for man's sin.  Until man believes, that unbelief keeps man's sin upon himself refusing God's redemption.  "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they believe not on me; of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.  I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now."  John 16:7-12.  I believe this last verse is referring to Paul's coming as the Gentiles Apostle, you decide.  For today's gospel see 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.  DBR, death, burial, and resurrection.

Eternal or Everlasting life; which is it?

John 3:16 (KJV)   “ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life .” Why everlasting life, why not eternal life?   is there a difference and if so what? Most resources I have available were of the opinion that they are the same.   I needed to dig deeper.   I soon found that all of man’s ideas on the subject were based on their opinion and very little scripture if any, then the easily discounted.   If I am to find the answer I seek, which is truth; I need to consult scripture.   Words in blue aren’t scripture. “Let a man so account of us ( Paul and his fellow workers ), as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.   1 Corinthians 4:1.   So I was right to search the scriptures concerning my question: to find this answer in His Word. When I started this word study the first thing I noticed was that the most sig...

Importance of Resurrection

1 Corinthians 15:17  Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV):   “ And if Christ be not raised, your faith  is  vain; ye are yet in your sins.” I am amazed at how ignorant most are of their salvation.   I will ask “Why, do you think you’ll go to heaven?” or   What happens when you die?”   ninety nine out of a hundred will answer with “Jesus died for my sins.”   True; “Jesus died for the sins of the world, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”   John1:29b.   That is most true but also is “and if Christ be not raised, your faith  is  vain; ye are yet in your sins.”   Jesus had to die for the purpose of removing sin, “to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”   2 Corinthians 5:19.   But this reconciliation can only come when one believes the gospel as pres...

When did the "Church" begin for us today ? ? ?

1 Timothy 1:15-16  (King James Version 1611):  " This is  a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief (first, beginning Strong's Concordance # 4413).  Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him for life everlasting. The "Church" didn't start with Peter and his presentation of Acts 2:38.  The "Church" started when Paul was on the Damascus Road.  Then it took numerous years in the desert for Paul to come to the understanding of "Faith plus nothing" (Les Feldick).  We are saved by grace through faith, who's faith (Romans 1:17)? "For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,  If you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation (Galatians 1:11-12) he ma...
