Antiquated King James Bible ???

1 Corinthians 2:2 (AKJV):  “For I have determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”

I’m amazed why fellowships shy away from scripture and choose to read, study and often follow books and instruction of men.  They will flock to the book stores, television and now the internet to get their Christian teaching.  Its as if what God has provided through Jesus Christ isn’t sufficient for them.  The community of Christ so called are ignorant of the very things they profess.  When did the Bible, the King James Bible become an antiquated writing that needs man’s help to make it successful?
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”  1 Corinthians 1:18
“For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”  1 Corinthians 1:21
“But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;”  1 Corinthians 1:23
“Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” 1 Corinthians  1:25
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishnessunto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians  2:14
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.” 1 Corinthians 3:19.

I am to “Be ye followers of me (Paul), even as I also am of Christ.”  1 Corinthians 11:1  with  “Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:”  Philippians 3:17-18.  I'm not saying that we are to worship Paul nor to esteem him but am directed to follow.  “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first (Paul was the first entrant into the true Church, the body of Christ which is head of the body) Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.”  2 Timothy 1:15-16.  Paul said himself:  “For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.  But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.  1 Corinthians 15:9-10.   “Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;”  Ephesians 3:8.

So when did man become so enthralled with the new, the better, more helpful and desirable than that which was given by God to us for today?  I pray that man would deprive himself from all writings other than the Bible and trust God for enlightenment, growth and understanding of what truth is.  Pilate asked Christ, “What is truth?”  John 18:38a.  Christ’s answer is “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”  John 17:17.

I was recently tempted to be carried away again by this very thing.  Quibbling over this and that which are from “times past”.  But as God has promised quickly brought me back to truth by His Word reminding me of:  “Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.”  Philippians 3:15.  Brought me back to “but now”;  Thank you LORD for reminding me, not allowing me to waste time and effort of futile thoughts and ideas that don’t present Christ crucified.  I can trust solely and completely in You at all times and need not man’s opinions and understandings to know You, Thank You, thank you for giving us the gospel that saves:  “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;  and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”  1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

Rightly divided or handling ???

2 Timothy 2:14-16     Authorized (King James) Version:   “ Of these things put  them  in remembrance, charging  them  before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit,  but  to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane  and  vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” There is in the military a directive that when one receives conflicting orders one will follow the last order given.   Really that makes a lot of sense to one who has sense, but therein lies the rub. Background:   the phrase above in verse “15” reads “rightly dividing the word of truth”.   Modern versions will read “rightly handling” instead of “dividing”.   Those two words have different meanings as seen in Hebrews 4:12 “even to dividing asunder”.   If a person d...

God's good pleasure in you

Philippians 2:13 (KJV)   “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of  his  good pleasure.” It is our responsibility to allow God to be God in our lives; we needn’t worry of our situations, we need to learn:   “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”   2 Timothy 1:12.   What things do we suffer?   Does it matter, really in the light of eternity what is our present suffering, large or small:   “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time  are  not worthy  to be compared  with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”   Romans 8:18.   Do we not have a promise from God concerning trails:   “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God  is  faithful, w...

Whose faithful?

"God is faithful,"  1 Cor 1:9;  "But the Lord is faithful,"  2 Thess 3:3;  " I'm sure not but He is.  When I fail He doesn't, He is faithful.  When I'm distraught, being weak in faith, He is faithful.  I will, can, must depend upon Him in all that I do; Looking for that blessed hope, the soon appearing of my great God and Savior, the LORD Jesus Christ.  He is my life, for I was crucified with Christ and risen, I no longer live now, but the life I now have is by His faithfulness to me that I have my being.  He is faithful to Himself, He can't deny Himself.  He is faithful to His Word that He cannot be separated from. I'm not in Him by anything I could have done, its all His work, it's all about Him and none of me; it came as a gift, a free gift.  I can't take pride in anything,  but to glory in Him.  For all things were made by Him and for Him, in Him all things are. It's impossible for Him to lie, in Him is no dark...
