Having Opportunity

“As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”  Galatians 6:10

“As we have opportunity” not that we are to go out and make things happen, but as we have opportunity.  So opportunity then or responding to: (for we walk by faith, not by sight: 2 Corinthians 5:7) responding to opportunities placed in our path (“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6); are more profitable to mankind than us doing what we think is right.  Trusting, exercising faith, believing God, not doing our own thing:  “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”  Romans 12:1-2.  Present our bodies a living sacrifice; but first present one’s mind to God and the scriptures so we can be renewed, that is why “ Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15; why that passage is so important.  If we are new creations in Christ to many times work hard at staying an old creation where we’re comfortable; those old environments and old ways and in so doing “frustrate” and “grieve” the Holy Spirit of promise.

Before one becomes a living sacrifice unto God, if now in Christ, one must
know why they are in Him and how that came about.  “I therefore, the
prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;  endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;  one Lord, one faith, one baptism,  one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.”  Ephesians 4:1-7.  I ask then, if we as believers in Christ truly believed that would there be so many different denominations?  Truly we are doubled minded, saying one thing, believing another, then doing something else.  Is that doing “good unto all men”.

What did Christ say of “good”?   “And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.” Matthew 19;15-17.  Is this for us today in this “the dispensation of the grace of God”?  Ephesians 3:2.  Today we are directed to  “The just shall live by faith.”  Romans 1:17, that being to believe.  To believe “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”  Galatians 2:20.  Christ, God now lives in the believer to guide and direct, when we believe and obey, allowing God, the LORD Jesus to be LORD
in us and “live by the faith of the Son of God” I won’t do but what is good, its Him doing it through and in me.  Until one knows who they are and why it is nearly impossible to be a witness.  How is one a witness if one doesn’t “rightly divide” nor understands why they are in the body.  Listen to people’s responses when asked “Why do you think you are saved and going to heaven when you die, that is to leave the physical?”  Rarely will one say “Because I believe that Christ died for my sin, was buried and arose the third day as written in scripture”.

So then when we “as therefore have opportunity” (not to make happen) but have opportunity present the gospel, that Christ died for ones own sin, was buried and rose again according to scripture. Being ready to answer questions and show from scripture (well I think is useless to the lost), why you believe what scripture says of salvation.  Allow faith to work through you to the one you’re speaking with, trust the Holy Spirit to direct and guide.  One can also recommend reading the Book Romans once, twice several times and by faith believe God will give the increase (1 Corinthians 3:5-7).

Eternal or Everlasting life; which is it?

John 3:16 (KJV)   “ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life .” Why everlasting life, why not eternal life?   is there a difference and if so what? Most resources I have available were of the opinion that they are the same.   I needed to dig deeper.   I soon found that all of man’s ideas on the subject were based on their opinion and very little scripture if any, then the easily discounted.   If I am to find the answer I seek, which is truth; I need to consult scripture.   Words in blue aren’t scripture. “Let a man so account of us ( Paul and his fellow workers ), as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.   1 Corinthians 4:1.   So I was right to search the scriptures concerning my question: to find this answer in His Word. When I started this word study the first thing I noticed was that the most sig...

Importance of Resurrection

1 Corinthians 15:17  Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV):   “ And if Christ be not raised, your faith  is  vain; ye are yet in your sins.” I am amazed at how ignorant most are of their salvation.   I will ask “Why, do you think you’ll go to heaven?” or   What happens when you die?”   ninety nine out of a hundred will answer with “Jesus died for my sins.”   True; “Jesus died for the sins of the world, “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”   John1:29b.   That is most true but also is “and if Christ be not raised, your faith  is  vain; ye are yet in your sins.”   Jesus had to die for the purpose of removing sin, “to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”   2 Corinthians 5:19.   But this reconciliation can only come when one believes the gospel as pres...

When did the "Church" begin for us today ? ? ?

1 Timothy 1:15-16  (King James Version 1611):  " This is  a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief (first, beginning Strong's Concordance # 4413).  Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him for life everlasting. The "Church" didn't start with Peter and his presentation of Acts 2:38.  The "Church" started when Paul was on the Damascus Road.  Then it took numerous years in the desert for Paul to come to the understanding of "Faith plus nothing" (Les Feldick).  We are saved by grace through faith, who's faith (Romans 1:17)? "For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,  If you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation (Galatians 1:11-12) he ma...
