Last choice

Acts 16:29-30 (KJV):  Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,  and brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

This to me is the most important question man can ever ask; “what must I do to be saved.”  Jesus Himself asked: “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”  Matthew 16:26.

Here are some possible answers heard given by most modern pastors, evangelists, teachers and lay persons.  The question is which is correct and is there scripture to support their instruction.

  • Have you accepted Jesus into your heart?  have you made him Lord, ruler etc of your life.

  • Do you believe who Jesus is and what he came to do, will tell him and when you do you’ll be saved.

  • Ask or invite Jesus into your life and he’’ll come in and save you.

  • Believe that “ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

  • That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

  • Confess your sins, repent of those sins, quit sinning and live right before God.

  • Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

  • Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

  • After confessing ones sin, repenting, getting baptized, one must pursue the gift of speaking in tongues, which proves salvation has occurred.  But must keep their sin confessed to maintain that saved relationship with God.

I’m sure there are many more as there are as many denominations to contend with;
But,  “In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”  Romans 2:16.  “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,  but now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:  to God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.”  Romans 16:25-27.  “But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.  For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.” Galatians 1:11-12.

All the answers we need to be complete in Him is given us in scripture.  Take the time, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  2 Timothy 2:15.

There is only one choose, you only get one shot, take care and choose well, your eternal destiny is at stake.

Believe God

Galatians 2:16  Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV): “ K nowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” Why is it so hard for man just to believe God?   Most don’t even believe that He is.   “But without faith  it is  impossible to please  him:  for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and  that  he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6.   All God has ever wanted from man was just to be believed.   But as with Adam and Eve in the garden; “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”   2 Corinthians 4:4.   Why the ...

Rightly divided or handling ???

2 Timothy 2:14-16     Authorized (King James) Version:   “ Of these things put  them  in remembrance, charging  them  before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit,  but  to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane  and  vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” There is in the military a directive that when one receives conflicting orders one will follow the last order given.   Really that makes a lot of sense to one who has sense, but therein lies the rub. Background:   the phrase above in verse “15” reads “rightly dividing the word of truth”.   Modern versions will read “rightly handling” instead of “dividing”.   Those two words have different meanings as seen in Hebrews 4:12 “even to dividing asunder”.   If a person d...

Risen? really; who said.

1 Corinthians 15:17 [AKJV]:   " And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins." When questions are asked of others, like;   "Why do you think you are saved?" or "Where will you go when you die?".   "How do you have assurance of eternal life?".   When I ask these and other questions concerning one's eternal condition I will get a multitude of replies.   Although to many to write out here but the number one response is generally that "Jesus died for our sins."   Very seldom is the reply followed with and arose the third day.   The gospel that we are saved by to day is mostly incomplete when witnessed to others.   The resurrection is also important as given by Paul to us today.   "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, un...
