One's love to God?

October 27, 2017

Deuteronomy 6:5 (KJV):  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”

Do you? Have you told Him, just to be telling Him, just because it is in your heart too; LORD Jesus, i love You, thank You . . . . . .

i didn’t know there wasn’t a reference, nor a command in the ten commandments to “love the Lord thy God”.  i was somewhat aware of a verse somewhere, where a young man had asked how to attain eternal life of Jesus; but had never gave it much thought as to where it was written.
i hear much of the ten commandments; even reference to the some 613  number of laws that were given to Israel.  “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.”  Romans 3:19.  “And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.”  Luke 10:25-28.  That was the requirement for that dispensation, dispensation of the law.  Is that what is required for man to be saved in this dispensation of the grace of God: “For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, if ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given (Gal 1:11-12) me to you-ward: how that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words.”  Ephesians 3:1-3.  Was it possible for them, Israel to obey this command?  just asking.  Israel was required to obey the commandments, carry out the works of the law, to love God, and it was all to be done by faith.  i don’t know about you but i couldn’t have loved God “ with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.”  To me that would be impossible, even for a moment.
So what makes this dispensation of the grace of God different?  i still am required to exercise faith.  But how does one come by this faith, this faith that saves?  “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”  Romans 12:3.  i don’t know how man came to that saving faith before the dispensation of the grace of God, and really it doesn’t matter, the question should be, what will one do with the revelations given by God to one now?  will one believe or not?  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they believe not on me;” John 16:8-9.  What is one to believe then?  “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.  To believe the gospel given to us Gentiles in this dispensation of the grace of God through and by Paul.  In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”  Romans 2:16.  “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,”  Romans 16:25.  And why Paul’s gospel, the gospel to be believed?  “For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:” Romans 11:13; with “Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.” 2 Timothy 1:11.  Why will most accept Moses (being one man) to be the presenter of the law but reject Paul (being one man) presenter of grace?  Peter gave thought to that very question writing:  “And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”  2 Peter 3:15-18; the last recorded words Peter wrote!

Now to the command of; “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”  Deuteronomy 6:5.
In and of myself i can not love God as He requires to be loved in my flesh.
“Because the carnal mind (fleshly mind, man’s mind: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:” 1 Corinthians 2:14a) the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Romans 8:7. But by: “having abolished in his (Jesus’s) flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself (Jesus) of twain one new man, so making peace;”  Ephesians 2:15.   i can however love God as He requires (desires) by believing Him, what He has said of me, done for me, and do what He commands; i.e. believing the gospel:  “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”  Romans 1:16.

Before learning that i was dead to God, i knew i was guilty; i hadn’t done what God requires.  i thought i had to do this and that, and when i got to a place where i didn’t do this or that anymore, that then He would accept me.  i went a long time trying to do this and that in spurts, nothing lasting.  Soon after a commitment i’d go back to the same old things.  It came to the point where i just quit, wasn’t no use, knew where i was headed but in my carnal mind had committed myself to what the world had to offer and dove in whole heartedly.  i was still miserable but when those thoughts came of my condition i would replace them with what the world offered.  i would allow the world to conform me to its nature (Ro 12:1-2), that was easier, for i had the nature of Adam, conceived and born in sin.  i’m not a sinner because i sin, i sin because i’m a sinner:  “The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.”  1 Corinthians 15:56.   “Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:”  Romans 5:20.

So then concerning God, Love, the Ten Commandants, there is this:

Having no other God, Gods                   Loyalty
        No graven images Faithful
        Not speaking Blasphemy Reverent
        Day unto God Intimate
        Honor your Parents Respectful
        Not to Kill Harmless
        No Adultery Pure
        Not to Steal Unselfish
        Bearing false witness Truthful
        Not to covet Content

There is a song titled “Love came down”,  maybe give it a listen.  i can not give the thoughts nor do i know the whole my own mind concerning what Jesus has done for me, to me and through me, but i do love the LORD Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, who is God.  Do you, tell Him right now, where your at, just tell Him:  I love You Jesus, thank You. . . . . . . . .

Thank You LORD Jesus for loving me and giving me Your life.  What i do, what i think, what i am is just between You and i, it’s personal, it’s a personal relationship that You made possible for me in Your death, burial and resurrection.  You giving me Your life, the One who loves me and gave Yourself for me.  Eternally grateful, thank You, in Your name in Jesus’s name Amen . . . . . .

My answers to last weeks questions asked, for your consideration.

“In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”  #1  Who’s gospel?  #2 Where is this gospel given &  #3 by whom was it given?   Again:  “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,”  #4 Who’s gospel and #5 how did this speaker/writer gain the revelation of this mystery?  Get your Bible and do a study, find the chapter and verses where the answers are given.
Beware if using other than the Kings James: your research won’t come to the same conclusion as to the questions asked.  Example NIV use “faith in” and not “faith of” as do most other versions; be careful!

Questions #1 & #4:   “In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”  Romans 2:16.  “Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel,” Romans 16:25a  “Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:”  2 Timothy 2:8.  Paul’s Epistles.
Question #2 & #3 :  “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”  1 Corinthians 15:1-4.   Paul’s Epistle.

Question #5:  “But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of

Rightly divided or handling ???

2 Timothy 2:14-16     Authorized (King James) Version:   “ Of these things put  them  in remembrance, charging  them  before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit,  but  to the subverting of the hearers. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane  and  vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” There is in the military a directive that when one receives conflicting orders one will follow the last order given.   Really that makes a lot of sense to one who has sense, but therein lies the rub. Background:   the phrase above in verse “15” reads “rightly dividing the word of truth”.   Modern versions will read “rightly handling” instead of “dividing”.   Those two words have different meanings as seen in Hebrews 4:12 “even to dividing asunder”.   If a person d...

God's good pleasure in you

Philippians 2:13 (KJV)   “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of  his  good pleasure.” It is our responsibility to allow God to be God in our lives; we needn’t worry of our situations, we need to learn:   “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”   2 Timothy 1:12.   What things do we suffer?   Does it matter, really in the light of eternity what is our present suffering, large or small:   “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time  are  not worthy  to be compared  with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”   Romans 8:18.   Do we not have a promise from God concerning trails:   “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God  is  faithful, w...

Whose faithful?

"God is faithful,"  1 Cor 1:9;  "But the Lord is faithful,"  2 Thess 3:3;  " I'm sure not but He is.  When I fail He doesn't, He is faithful.  When I'm distraught, being weak in faith, He is faithful.  I will, can, must depend upon Him in all that I do; Looking for that blessed hope, the soon appearing of my great God and Savior, the LORD Jesus Christ.  He is my life, for I was crucified with Christ and risen, I no longer live now, but the life I now have is by His faithfulness to me that I have my being.  He is faithful to Himself, He can't deny Himself.  He is faithful to His Word that He cannot be separated from. I'm not in Him by anything I could have done, its all His work, it's all about Him and none of me; it came as a gift, a free gift.  I can't take pride in anything,  but to glory in Him.  For all things were made by Him and for Him, in Him all things are. It's impossible for Him to lie, in Him is no dark...
