Genesis 1:31- 2:3: (NKJ): “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”
Hebrews 1:1-3: “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”
Twice in the history of man, God did a work so perfect; a work as unto creation, when He completed it, creation, then rested. Now in the end days has removed sin in totality (Col 2:13-15) in that He gave Himself for our sin debt, our redemption: “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21. Never before or after had God done such a perfect work, where in (by the Holy Spirit) Paul would write concerning the way of salvation, would write: “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:6-10.
Why did God rest after creation? What other word or words could He use so that we would be able to understand, other than “rested from all his work”. Does God get tired? Did He become weary in creation? i think not. My simple little boyish mind can not comprehend what God did at creation, let alone think i could understand His workings. That being true how am i to understand His resting. “Resting” defined as “lack of activity”. Is that all encompassing of God resting? “And he (Jesus Christ) is before all things, and by him all things consist. Colossians 1:17 That by Him all things consist implies the continual working of God to keep everything to gather by His Word. i’m then reminded “the just shall live by faith.” That makes all of creation simple for me in that i believe what God said that He has done. That being true for most today; although there are those who will scoff and smirk but yet still call themselves christian, which are a witness unto them selves that they aren’t. None the less the words God, the Holy Spirit used through Paul are sufficient for me to read, understand and believe.
How be it then, in this day and age, some 6000 years later that the so called church (self called, not Holy Spirit called) gets in such a twist. Incorporating numerous denominations, off shoots of those, splits, with sects, organizations all claiming to be “truth”. That in its self shows that they are liars and are of the father of lies. Whether deceived by another or by their own lusts set out to bring what God has said, into question again and again in so doing deny the very faith they claim to be of. For the life of me i can’t comprehend what is so difficult in “It is finished”. Mankind will agree impart and then as the Jews did add to it, take away of remove parts of to suit their own lusts. Do you really believe there is anything that can be added, remove or forgot about to make the work of Christ on the cross more perfect than what was done on His cross (Col 2:14c). That reminds me of a Sunday School teacher some years back who was taken back by my stanch stand on the cross and resurrection. He in an email wrote once that he thought that the work of Christ on the cross was insufficient for salvation; (Matt 7:21-23: although to Israel (Ro 15:4); Israel was not by works alone but again with faith, and so now more in this time “of the dispensation of the grace of God” Ephesians 3:2. We are “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith (exercising the faith that He has given to all men); and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:5-10.
Ephesians 2:8 reads “saved through faith”. Here its not my faith in, or of, your faith in, or of, our faith in, or of but the faith of Jesus Christ which is seen in Galatians 2:16-21. But through faith; whose faith? How did this faith come and from where? “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Romans 12:3. Who gave the faith that we, we all possess? to exercise of Him? either too believe or by that same faith to unbelief? How did this faith come to those who could believe? “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17. Think it through, especially in light of, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;” “Hath appeared unto all men,” that comma is there not to cease from the thought but to divide the thought (2 Tim 2:15). All have seen the grace of God but not all will accept or believe. Thus in verse 12 it reads: “Teaching us” who are the us? believers of the gospel, who have believed contrary to those whom it (grace) hath appeared, by Jesus Christ, unto all men, having denied. What does Romans say? “that they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20b, why? all have seen and all know. Don’t be of those who would bring questions of “what about those who - - - - - -”. Iv’e heard and you’ve heard, heard what, the gospel that saves: “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. So now do you believe what is given or are you of the one’s who will continue to bring into question of His completed work and not rest in that, His completed work (Heb 4:1-13 with again Ro 15:4 in mind). Stop it, just stop it! either believe or get away! but quit this damnable infernal, continual demonic perversion of the gospel, the grace of God. “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.” Ephesians 4:1-7. Does one think, i mean does one really think that one will get over on God concerning what He has said and done for mankind. Will God out of His great “love” spin the gospel given to Paul to allow a little leaven in? Will he, God, be accepting of just a little unbelief? i can’t find that written anywhere, can you??? if so where??? Paul wrote well “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” It hurts me to see faithful men and women of God professing the gospel, living the gospel and teaching the gospel, Paul’s gospel: knowing that “In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my (Paul) gospel.” Romans 2:16. They are fought against and are denied the fellowship of faith; those who believe not in their corrupt minds to there own hurt. “ But yet those who do believe; being by faith plus nothing, they remain faithful and hopeful that a remnant will come to believe, truly believing in that completed work of the LORD Jesus Christ.
“And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:15-18 Some talk down Peter and again speak that they would never deny the LORD Jesus the way Peter did. But what they do is to turn and in an instant, deny the very thing they say they believe, parroting what the’ve heard because at the time made sense and sounded good to their ears (2 Tim 4:3). These are the last recorded words of the Apostle Peter, Peter who denied Christ, who tried to withstand Him from going to Jerusalem, Peter who was speaking/asking/suggesting at the Mountain of Transfiguration, walked on water: his last words by the Holy Spirit to us concerning what to do with Paul; think maybe we should give an ear?
Thank You LORD Jesus for loving me, dying for me, giving me Your life that i may spend eternity with You. At times i may not be able to put into words what You have given me in my heart, but i know in whom i have believed. Thank You in Your name, in Jesus’s name
