Why Study?

Genesis 1:1 (KJV)   “   In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Often said to be first created, some say light was:   “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” Genesis 1:3.   So let’s consider the question.   Light in our sphere of understanding is what is necessary to make vision available.   If there isn’t light, no light at all and one isn’t blind one still cannot see.   Add light, however small and one starts to see.   But scripture can be confusing to the unlearned.   “ This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”   John 1:5.   God has always been, is, and will be.   That being so why did then God have to create light?   Is there another understanding that is pertinent to this.   “God  is  the Lord, which hath shewed us ligh...

Works or Grace, your choice

Matthew 11:29-30   (KJV):   “ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.    For my yoke  is  easy, and my burden is light.” At a recent fellowship, the sermon was on taking the yoke of Christ.   The emphasis of the sermon that His, Jesus’s yoke is a light burden and that He will help us with it.   The questions I have are adverse to what is often taught as truth in this “the dispensation of the grace of God.”   The implications is that there is work that has to be done, but that work is easy. “Take my yoke up on you,”   and verse 30 “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”   Even Peter concluded that there was a different twist to Paul’s gospel than to the one he had received from Jesus.   “Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?    But w...

Personal thoughts of capital punishment

Matthew 16:26 (KJV) “ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul ?”   I believe the connotation is that a man’s soul is more important than all the riches of the world.   The question was “What will a man exchange for”, and put in what ever subject one wants.   So then I ask;   why would a truly in Christ, in the body of Christ, a sealed believer support capital punishment?   Is not any persons eternal destination worth keeping open until God puts it to an end.   Let's take Jeffery Dahmer, the Milwaukee Cannibal.   Sure what he did was horrific, no excuse, but was his life of so little value that the death sentence should have been given.   Does not that one on death row needs the opportunity to come to Christ.   What is the cost in relation to the curse of eternal separation from God for all e...

Who's responsibility is it?

1 Corinthians 2:13 KJV:   “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” 1 John 2:27 KJV:   “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” In Ephesians 4 we are told of the evangelists, teachers and pastors.   Concerning the later two, what is their function in the body?   Pastors by a dictionary are defined as “spiritual overseer”.   Teachers are “ones who teach”; and too teach is to “cause one to know”.   John gives warning writing:   “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”   1 John 4:1. ...

God's good pleasure in you

Philippians 2:13 (KJV)   “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of  his  good pleasure.” It is our responsibility to allow God to be God in our lives; we needn’t worry of our situations, we need to learn:   “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”   2 Timothy 1:12.   What things do we suffer?   Does it matter, really in the light of eternity what is our present suffering, large or small:   “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time  are  not worthy  to be compared  with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”   Romans 8:18.   Do we not have a promise from God concerning trails:   “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God  is  faithful, w...

What is eternity worth???

Matthew 16:26 KJV:   “ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul ?” Jesus here giving an comparison of the extent of eternity and the value of the human soul and spirit.   We as humans are born in the likeness of Adam. dead:   “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”   1 Corinthians 15:22.   But Adam was created in the likeness of God:   “So God created man in his  own  image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”   Genesis 1:27   Before the separation of woman from man, woman was in man.   As for the image of God, I believe it is pertaining to the eternal existence of man, not all the attributes associated with/to God.   Man isn’t omnipresent. omniscience nor omnipotent; just for starts but God is.   I am born, and in so b...

Thankfulness; are we?

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV):   “In every thing give thanks:   for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Got up this morning, looked at the clock, which I could see because its backlit in design.   Went to the bathroom/restroom, turned on the lights, not just one but five at a flip of the switch.   Twisted the left handle on the sink and in a few minutes had hot, not just luke or warm but hot water gushing out.   Rinsed my teeth (artificial) and installed them as to facilitate chewing/eating, having more than enough of.   Got dressed in clean clothes that were washed in a machine and later also dried the same.   Shut off the lights there and continued to the kitchen, again turning on, this time, six lights really brightening the room.   Heated up the coffee pot, went to the refrigerator, took the frozen grounds out and prepared for the brewing.   Got my cup and filled with hot water to remove the chill.  ...
