Do you love God, really?

John 14:23     Authorized (King James) Version “ Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” The first time direction to love God is in Deuteronomy 6:5   “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”   Also given in Mark 12:29-34 and Luke 10:27.    So then, do you love God as directed in scripture?   I know within myself I fall short of the command [Romans 3:23].   There is no way I can even come close in my judgment to fulfill this.   So what am I to do? I need to know, learn and understand what love is.   Where can I find out the answer to that question?   I read how God, in Romans 8:31-39 how I am loved, protected, and reassured in the love of God.   I am known of God as seen in 1 Corinthians 8:1-3   “Now as touchi...

Did God say that ???

Genesis 15:6   Authorized (King James) Version:   “And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness.” Romans 4:3   Authorized (King James) Version    "For what saith the scripture?   “Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” Do you see the difference in those two verses?   When, whom, what, why are questions to ask.   Why did the Holy Spirit by Moses’s handwrite “he believed “IN” the Lord” and Paul by the same Holy Spirits wrote, “Abraham believed God”.   Why the difference? My understanding is this;   Abram had many interactions with God that were recorded by the Holy Spirit.   It took some time, as with us, to develop trust in God. “   So then faith  cometh  by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”   Romans 10:17 Ask yourself did you believe the very first time you heard?   I bet that when you did hear it wasn’t even the gospel that sav...

Don't read but study!

“ 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17   Authorized (King James) Version “ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive  and  remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:    then we which are alive  and  remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”                                           as...

Which Body?

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things  done  in  his  body, according to that he hath done, whether  it be  good or bad. Ephesians 4:4 There is  one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; The word “body” has many definitions.   In 2 Corinthians 5:10, Strong’s #4983 defines body as “used in a very wide application”. First look at 2 Corinthians 5:10, and remove the italics.   Italics are not scripture but an addition made by the King James translators to make the flow of or the reading of easier.   So, without the italics;   “ For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things in body, according to that he hath done, whether good or bad.   My question was how do I define this word “body”.   Is it the physical body or as per Ephesians 4:4a; “...

Just "BELIEVE"

1 Corinthians 1:17 Authorized (King James) Version   “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” Often I have asked people what happens when one dies, when you die where will you go?   The biggest question that I ask is “What do you think about Jesus Christ?”   Most often the reply is the same.   “I was baptized and so I’m OK?”   That gives me an opening to present the gospel.   “ Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;    by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;    and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third da...

Sickness and distress

2 Corinthians 4:4 [Authorized King James Bible]:   “ But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:    in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Does God place sickness, disease, loss of goods, or destroy what He may have given to an individual? The first chapter of Job shows how God has interactions with His created beings.   satan was given the latitude to oppress Job, but short of taking Job’s life [Job 2:6].   From that, I see that satan hast vast influence over the affairs of men.   Isn’t that what 2 Corinthians 4:4 reads?   Being a liar [John 8:44] satan is most capable of deceiving mankind, it’s his greatest tool if not entirely to keep mankind from believing God.   The fall of man is seen in Genesis and the how of is confirmed in Genesis 3. “The thief cometh not, but for to...

To "rightly divide the word of truth'

John 8:31-32 [Authorized King James Version]   “ Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word,  then  are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free .” “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”   Romans 15:4.   All scripture is written for us but all scripture is not written to us .   “Of these things put  them  in remembrance, charging  them  before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit,  but  to the subverting of the hearers.    Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:14-15. We are to rightly divide scripture and adhere to the doctrine for us in this time, this dispensation.   We must ( continue ...
